Do you travel?
Most of my gigs are in Gippsland and Melbourne but I'm also available for interstate gigs. For gigs further from home I charge reasonable travel fees to cover getting to and from the venue.
Are you and the Kombi a package deal?
People generally love having Diedre the Kombi as she's beautiful and a novelty at events but I'm also available as a one man show.
Can I pay you to make a playlist for my special event?
I explored this a long time ago and quickly learned that it rarely goes well and causes hosts unnecessary stress. A skilled DJ at your special event is able to get everyone involved by improvising the music choices based on what your guests are responding to. They also act as a gatekeeper to ensure guests with different music tastes and preferences aren't chopping and changing your playlist causing a disjointed vibe. There are only so many times a dance floor can empty and fill before guests decide to stay seated. If you have the budget for it, a skilled DJ is a great investment in ensuring your guests have a great night and take fun memories away with them.
What are your prices like?
Every event is unique. Please get in touch with your needs and I'll quickly get back to you with a quote. Prices can vary based on how long I'll be playing for and how far I'll be travelling.
Do you have a microphone? Can you MC?
I love MC'ing and have a great PA system and wireless mic.
Do you have lighting?
I do, it doesn't cost any extra to have me light up your dance floor for you.
Do you need access to power?
I run during the day with deep cycle batteries. I can park anywhere and play. If I've been going all day at night time I will need access to power.
What happens if there's a power outage at my event?
I've had this happen a couple of times at events. If the power goes out my batteries are usually sufficient to keep the dance floor alive and your guests having a good time.
What kind of music do you play?
Whatever your guests are responding best to. My goal is to create a vibe that makes your event one your guests remember fondly and talk about for years to come. For every event I ask for a list of your ten favourite songs to get a feel for what you like. I play your faves throughout the night and read the room to select music that will keep the dance floor pumping. I've played for toddlers, seniors and everyone in between. I have an extensive music library and am known for taking requests too.
Do you take breaks between playing?
No, one of the benefits of having me at your event over a live band is there's no need for breaks between sets.
How late can you play till?
For pub and club events music can go till the early hours of the morning. For weddings, venues normally have the dance floor wrapping up at 11:30pm. For private and corporate events please get in touch to discuss your needs.
When is payment due?
You can secure your date with a small deposit and have up until your event date to make your final payment.
